Rebuilding the Motrix Website

·1 min read

The new motrix.app is now online. Instead of continuing to patch the old site, we rebuilt it from scratch. You can now download Motrix, read the manual, browse plugins, and check project updates in one place.

How the site is built

The site uses Astro 7, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS 4. Most pages are generated as static HTML. React is only loaded for interactive parts such as carousels and plugin filters, which keeps the amount of browser-side JavaScript small.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. During each build, the download page gets the latest release information from GitHub. The black hole on the homepage is rendered in real time with WebGL2 rather than played as a video.

What you can find here

The website includes:

  • Download — detects your operating system and shows the available packages for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Manual — covers installation, download tasks, BitTorrent, network settings, plugins, and troubleshooting.
  • Plugins — lets you browse and search for extensions, then review their details before installing them.
  • Changelog and Blog — collect release notes and other Motrix updates.
  • Site search — searches the manual, blog posts, and other pages from anywhere on the site.

The website is available in English and Simplified Chinese. English pages use the main URL, while Chinese pages are under /zh/.

If you just want the app, go straight to the download page. If you are new to Motrix, start with the manual. For release information and project news, check the changelog and blog.
